QuitWave

Privacy Policy

Effective 20 August 2026 · Last updated 3 September 2026

The short version. QuitWave has no account, no login and no server of its own. Everything you enter — your quit date, your spend, your reasons, your cravings and anything you write — is stored on your iPhone and is never sent to us. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and we do not sell or share data with anyone.

Who we are

QuitWave is published by Mete Erdal Köroğlu, an individual developer. Contact: meteerdal@gmail.com.

What stays on your device

This is held in the app's own on-device database. A small summary — your streak, your savings and your next milestone — is shared with the QuitWave widget and Live Activity through a private app group on the same device, so the widget can draw without opening the app. Deleting the app deletes all of it. We keep no copy, because we never receive one.

Notifications

Support messages are scheduled locally by your iPhone at fixed points after your quit date. They are never sent from a server, so no notification token or device identifier ever reaches us. You can turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.

Apple Intelligence

Where your iPhone supports it, QuitWave uses Apple's on-device foundation model to phrase coaching lines from what you have already written. That processing happens on the device. If the model is unavailable, the app falls back to your own words and keeps working. Nothing is sent to an external model provider.

Apple Health

If you allow it, QuitWave records each craving session you finish as Mindful Minutes in Apple's Health app — the start time, the end time, and nothing else. That entry is written to Health on your iPhone; it does not come to us, and there is no server for it to go to.

The permission is one-way. QuitWave asks only for permission to write, never to read: it cannot see your Health data, and it never asks. You are asked the first time you finish a session rather than at launch, you can decline, and declining changes nothing — the craving is still recorded in the app. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health, and you can delete the entries in the Health app itself.

Purchases

QuitWave Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details, your name or your Apple Account. We are also never told your Apple Account identifier.

To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. as a processor. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated, anonymous app user identifier created on your device, the App Store purchase receipt for the transaction, and basic technical information such as the app version, device model and country. It does not receive your name, your email address, or anything you entered in the app — not your quit date, your reasons, your cravings or your reflections. Restoring purchases sends the same receipt again. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf to validate the purchase and report entitlement status back to the app.

What we never collect

Your rights

Because the data lives on your device and not with us, you already hold it. You can edit or delete any of it inside the app, and deleting QuitWave removes all of it from your iPhone. If you have an iCloud device backup enabled, a copy may exist in your own iCloud backup, governed by Apple's terms and under your control. For the anonymous purchase records held by RevenueCat on our behalf, or for any question about this policy — including requests under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or Türkiye's KVKK — write to meteerdal@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

QuitWave is intended for adults who are quitting nicotine and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13 — or under 16 where local law sets that age — which is straightforward here, because we do not collect personal data at all.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes.
